#CancerSucks
It is Breast Cancer Awareness Month…..but ALL CANCER SUCKS! Daily I am reminded of my purpose to change the trajectory of cancer, to be an ambassador for those fighting this awful disease, and do whatever I can to make things easier. Yesterday I wore this shirt for a stranger who found her way to me for guidance. She has a very difficult late stage diagnosis and has been left untreated due to the nuances of her insurance and “referral” needs. As if dealing with the diagnosis itself is not hard enough, the confusion, frustration, and stress to getting to the right medical care is unfortunately not an uncommon story. While we raise the awareness of breast cancer month, hence the pink background, I vow my unwavering commitment to changing access to care for all people, all cancers, no matter their demographics or means to pay. #cancersucks #patientsfirst #consentmatters #swellter
